When I visit San Antonio I always make it to the Riverwalk and the King William District. They have some of the nicest Historical Homes in San Antonio. Everytime I go there it seems they have re-done many more homes since my last visit. I enjoy driving up and down the streets of this neighborhood and imagine myself pulling up into the driveway of some of these old homes. My dream has always been to re-do an old home, but it just isn't in my budget. So I'll settle for being able to see and photograph them and hope that maybe one day my dream will become a reality.

You'll have to excuse my photography skills...they're not the greatest.

Here's what I saw....

A pretty white house...I can see myself sipping ice tea on this porch.

You can barely see it but this home had the prettiest shade of blue around the windows.

A Victorian Style home with that same shade of blue on the porch posts.

This little cottage had a lot going for it...

a precious porch, a decorative piece above the window making it the focal point of the home.

The front door seems to have a cornice above it as well.

This home had some beautiful architectural details but very hard to capture on film from the street.

I loved the look of this home with arches flanking the porch.

I had to get a close-up of the wreath.

I absolutely loved this massive column on a home that needed some TLC.

A really cute cafe...

Looks like it used to be a church.

The Weekend~

OK,,,So we were in San Antonio this past weekend (after my hubby and I picked up my baby from Cheer Camp in San Marcos) and we had some fun family time together. The place we stayed at was really nice and right up my alley because of the little villas surrounding the property. It's located right in the middle of downtown SA but it felt like you were somewhere else but the city. I Love San Antonio!

NOTE: THIS POST IS IN NO WAY INTENDED TO OFFEND ANYONE OR REFERRING TO ANYONE IN PARTICULAR. IT IS MERELY AN OBSERVATION AND MY OWN PERSONAL PREFERENCE.

I'm always seeing these beautiful displays with bird nests and anything that is growing pretty in the wild and I just love the natural look of it all. I admit, I have thought about using the real thing in my displays but can't make myself to take a home away from a helpless little bird. So I always make my own out of twigs, dried tall grass and anything that is pliable enough to shape into a nest. This weekend, while cleaning up the yard, we found a precious bird nest in one of our trees. There was no sign of any Momma or Bebe's in the nest, so my husband carefully cut the branch with the nest in it.

(no birds were harmed while removing the branch)

You will be happy to know that we returned the nest back in the tree so future birds will have a safe place to rest and stay out of the elements.

It's Saturday night and I have the house all to myself! What's a girl to do? Well, I have decided to pour me a glass of vino and watch a favorite movie...a chick flick of course! Mona Lisa Smile....I don't think that Julia Roberts has ever made a bad movie ever...and this is one of my favorites. And because it takes place in the 1950's in a place where most of the characters are high society and the clothes, hats and jewelry they wore were fabulous.

So...off I go and enjoy my evening alone~

Marburger Farms has some of the most talented dealers you can find. I know because I'm so honored to know some of them. For instance, you will get to see Shelley of Sweet Pea, Theresa of Time Worn Interiors, Judy Hill, Linda of Willow Nest, Donna of Curious Goods, Peg of French Vanilla, and new to the show this year is Lauri of 2 Chippys....the list goes on and on and I apoligize for not naming them all but once you arrive you will be in awe!

Pillow Talk~

On this Monday, the first day of March, I am happy to report that it is in the 70's here in Texas in my neck of the woods...just gorgeous! I'm so hoping that this weather is a taste of what we will encounter in a few weeks for the Spring Show in Warrenton/RoundTop.

I also wanted to give you a little "peek" into what you will encounter in my booth....these pillows that I made myself with love. I've been sewing like a mad woman trying to make as many different designs for everyone's needs. After having been separated from my sewing machine for a few years I got the urge to create and now I can't seem to stop!

I have piles and piles all over the house...

All styles, All sizes....

Big, medium, small.....

So many to choose from....

No two are alike, so you will be getting a "one of a kind" pillow. I can't wait to set-up shop!

Just Playin' Around~

With just a little more than a month left till I head out to Warrenton for the Spring Show I find myself still not knowing exactly what I'll be taking. I start to pack and then I get a wild hair to create and the packing doesn't get quite done. I'm hoping in the next couple of weeks to be showing you what I will be taking. I am itching to go out and buy junk but there just haven't been any Estate Sales or Garage Sales lately. Hopefully, if the weather is nice here this weekend I'll venture out and do some junkin'.

I did head out to the Resale Shop in town this morning and found this adorable pair of baby slippers. I fell in love with them and the cute little flowers stitched on top. They are not vintage but I like them just the same. I have paired them with a wonderful bird nest that a friend (Joyce Shillings) of mine made for me.

I also found this glass basket that is stamped AVON. I guess with Spring just around the corner, the basket seemed appropriate to buy. I'll fill it with some grass and glittered eggs.

White Wednesday with Jeanne d' Arc Living~

Welcome to another one of Kathleen's White Wednesday.

I wanted to share with you my latest discovery. I'm sure most of you have heard of the Jeanne d' Arc Living Magazine...well, just like everything else I kept putting off in purchasing this magazine until a few months ago. I gotta tell ya when I received the Christmas issue I was hooked! I have never before in my life seen such an inspiring piece of work. This made my day when I opened the package to find such a beautiful spread of pages full of ideas and so much more. If you have never seen this book...(it literally is a book...more than 150 pages) then you'll know what I'm talking about. It's not only page after page of lovely homes and vignettes, but it also includes recipes with pictures and the best part is there are no advertisements....they save those for the last few pages of the magazine. How great is that! This is a work of genius in my opinion. O.K. I can go on and on about this but I know you're waiting to see for yourself, so....here are pictures I took of the 2 magazines I have received so far. Enjoy!

A few months ago, I downsized from a booth size of 11x20 to a teeny tiny little booth of 7x8. I didn't realize how difficult it would be to have such a small space. If you put too much in it, everything gets lost! If you don't have enough then your sales are terrible! Go Figure...Anyway, here a just a few pics of the recent re-do since the Holidays.

I know it's been a while since my last post but my computer has been sick and just got out of the hospital.

I do hope that everyone's Thanksgiving was super! I was very blessed to be able to spend the day with my family and eat way too much. But hey, isn't that what it's all about?

So, with Turkey Day over it is now time to tackle the task of decorating for the Holidays, do some shopping and so much more. Next week I will attempt to get my house decorated and maybe do some entertaining before December really gets crazy. Christmastime has always been one of my favorite times to decorate and entertain. To me it's the one time of the year that conservatives like me go out a little more than usual with their decorating.

Monday's Show and Tell~

Happy Monday to all!

I want to start this post by saying that I hope your weekend was grand and may your week be equally great.

Since coming back from Warrenton I haven't been much for junkin' so today I decided to treat myself to a visit of one of my favorite places in town, The Outpost Resale Shop. They are putting out Christmas decor and I came upon some santos that I thought would make a nice addition to my small but dear collection.

I love Santos that have the chipped paint, vibrant old colors and just to imagine where they were once loved and by whom. It's the Old World Style that I like to use when decorating for the Holidays or anytime of year for that matter.

Here's a close-up of the church I also picked up today. It's actually a candlholder, but I loved that it was silver and a little tarnished. The Clay Rosary was not purchased today but I did acquire this beauty last week while stopping in at Laurent Street Antique Mall. I absolutely fell in love with this rosary awhile back and when it was marked down I had to have it. It sits proudly around my favorite dress form in my bedroom.

Connie Meyer of She Dreams Big and Theresa Cano of Garden Antqs Vintage. Congratulations ladies for your stories and for taking the time to do so. It's always a pleasure when a fellow blogger takes the time to leave you a comment or just to say Hi!

Connie's story was to me a very sweet and exciting story, she is going to be a Grandma! It's always wonderful to hear that a baby is on the way, not much can beat that! Congratulations! Connie, we can't wait to see pictures of the baby.

Theresa's story was a funny one because it involved a very sweet helper from Zapp Hall named Jose. It was pouring down rain and he wasn't going to let that stop him from helping whomever he could help that needed it. So, he decided to dress himself in black trashbags to try to keep a little dry. I don't know that it helped him stay dry, but his heart was in the right place.

Thanks so much to everyone that took the time to write about their story. I enjoyed reading all of them. Some were all too familiar when it comes to being in Round Top/Warrenton.

A Happy Halloween~

Fall is definitely in the air. The sun is peeking out and the birds are singing. So Nice!

It's a chilly Halloween morning here in South Texas. I can remember when I was growing up that Halloween seemed to be the start of the Fall season. Everyone was decorating their homes with hay bales and pumpkins. Plus it was about the only time we were allowed to eat so much candy that we didn't want any for about a month. This year my decorating is very limited but I did want to share with you some vignettes that I put together at the last minute.

Warrenton and A Fall Giveaway~

Well, I'm back! Sorry for the delay in posting on the Warrenton Fall show but I decided to take some time off from blogging for awhile to re-coup. As you can imagine when you've been gone for 2 weeks straight things can get very busy around the house. As soon as I got back I had to catch up on all the cleaning, washing, etc. and of course spending time with my family. My daughter showed her pig at the County Fair this week and tonight is the auction. Many great things happening for her and I don't want to miss out on anything. She will be in high school next year and then off to college...where does the time go!

Aside from being almost washed away with all the rain this was a very interesting show. I'm sure that every dealer that was set-up in Warrenton and anyone else that attended the Fall Show for that matter has a story or two to tell about this show. I wanted to do something different to kick the Fall season off right. So, I'm doing a giveaway that involves everyone...not only if you were there or not...tell me your most interesting story during that 2 week span and I will pick my favorite and post about it and send you a gift.

White Wednesday & Canton Trip~

Kathleen's White Wednesday's are too special not to miss...so I am combining my Canton trip post with today's White Wednesday.

I had a special traveler with me on my trip...Linda Gregory (I have featured her shop before in Victoria called Past Time). She was going to Canton that same week so we decided to go together and enjoy ourselves for a few days. We went to Huntsville to meet up with Theresa Cano of Garden Antqs and followed her to Canton the next day. What was really special about this trip is the southern hospitality that was given to us not only on the day we got there but the whole trip. Marion, Theresa's "Junkin' Buddy" was a wonderful host to have us over for a summer lunch at her home on Wednesday when we arrived. I can't tell you how thrilled Linda and I were to be treated so special. Being in Marion's home was all we needed to get those creative juices going. Marion has a very special talent for putting together the most sweetest and interesting vignettes together. I will feature her home in a later post, I'm sure you have seen her home on Theresa's blog....just beautiful! Theresa and Marion "Junkin' Buddy" were such wonderful hosts for putting up with us during the trip to Canton. They are junkin' pros and well...we are just amateurs. They were very patient with us. We thank you both for all you did to make our trip a memorable one.

Now, I want to share some photos of a few things that I picked up on my trip. You will be able to see the rest in Warrenton at the show in my booth at Tree Park Field.

Junkin' Finds~

It's Monday and I'm so excited about this week. There are some interesting things going on and I want to share them with you. First, I headed out to one of my favorite places in town this morning...The Outpost Resale Shop. Take a look at some of the things I picked up while there. A baby doll, a creamy vase, a couple of ironstone plates, and some odd pieces of glassware.

But my most favorites of them all is this unique magnetic hurricane tracking map. I thought it was the neatest thing, it tells you about "How A Hurricane Is Born". Too Cool! It's got some rust on it but hey, a little rust never hurt no one!

And now, for the really interesting news. I am going on a small buying trip to Canton this Wednesday thru Friday before I head to Warrenton in a couple of weeks! I will be joining Theresa of Garden Antqs Vintage and her "Hubby" Cruz and "Junkin' Buddy" Marion. I am so excited about this and hope to see some of you in Canton!

Since I skipped last week's White Wednesday, I couldn't let this week's WW pass me by. These are just some things that I have had for a while now but just never stopped to look at or clean. With it being so hot these days I don't go outside much during the day anyway, so today I decided to take a look at what was lurking in my back yard. I also love the way the fence has this whitewashed, bleached look going on.

This bench, which is not very old but needed to be spruced up a bit with some paint.

This piece is my favorite because it was free, someone was throwing it away and I rescued it.

A white wreath that was in my garage and I pulled out for these pictures.

I'm Moving~

Guess What! I'm moving...no, not to another house but into an antique mall in Victoria called Laurent Street Antique Mall. It started out as a small space (9 x 10) then last week turned into a much larger space (11 x 21). Anyway, I started to move my junk in there on Friday evening and a day later the A/C broke. I can't think in the heat and there are no windows to open, so I took a break today and took care of housework that needed to be done and I will try to tackle the heat tomorrow. I just wanted to let everyone know what I have been doing and show you a couple of pics of what I have managed to get done so far. Keep in mind I am not done, and I'll do a feature of the shop and my booth in a few weeks.

"New" Shop Tour~

Today, I had the pleasure of visiting a new antiques shop in Victoria.

Past Time is a lovely little shop that just opened it's doors about a month ago. The name of this store says it all because the minute you walk in the door you literally are taken back in time. Plus, with the soft music playing in the background you are instantly at peace. The owner of this shop full of eye candy is Linda Gregory who is not new to the antiques business. Linda also sets up at La Bahia every Spring and Fall. She has a wonderful eye for putting together the most gorgeous displays and vignettes. I spent the whole morning there with Linda who is the sweetest and most genuine person you will ever meet. I was introduced to Linda thru my good friend Joyce Shillings who also has a special talent in creativeness and decorating. So, if you are ever in the Victoria area, stop by and check out this little slice of heaven!

This week's White Wednesday consists of a mix of textures, colors, and styles. Decorating with "White" can go from Shabby Chic to Traditional Vintage. With so many shades of white, mixing it up with cream and taupe and hints of black are just one of my favorite combinations.

Festival Hill in Round Top Texas~

Back in June when I joined Joyce Shillings to The Big Red Barn show, we stopped by to check out The International Festival-Institute in Round Top. The Festival Hill Campus opened officially in 1976. It certainly was a sight to see, being surrounded by The Gardens at The Festival Hill made you feel like you had traveled to another world. I am always intrigued by the stone work and architecture of places like this. While there students were rehearsing for one of the many performances they have scheduled for the summer. We also visited The Edythe Bates Old Chapel which was built in La Grange in 1883 as the Episcopal Methodist Church of La Grange, Texas. It was used for worship until it was sold to The Festival-Institute in 1994. If you have never been to this wonderful place you must stop by and check it out, you won't be disappointed.

Big Red Barn Show~

I had the pleasure of being a part of the Big Red Barn Show this past weekend with my friend Joyce Shillings of Joyce Shillings Antiques. She is a sweet and kind individual who has an amazing talent for making anything look wonderful! It was alot of work but so worth it! I learned so much from her in just the few days I was with her and also got to see many great vendors in the meantime.

If you have never been to the Big Red Barn you should try to make at least one of their shows...you won't be disappointed. The vendors that set-up there are so talented like Theresa Cano of Garden Antqs Vintage, Judy and Bill Hill of Judy Hill Designs, Peg and Jon of French Vanilla, Linda and Ludmil of Willow Nest, Carolyn Westbrook of Carolyn Westbrook Home, Leftovers, and of course my good friend Joyce Shillings. I met so many others but the names have left me at this time.

Judy Hill's Open House~

Is everyone having a great weekend? I had a fantastic pre-weekend trip to Judy Hill's Open House. My wonderful hubby took the day off on Thursday to take me to shop and shop I did. After the sale at Judy's we did a little more shopping with The Theresa's (TOT and Theresa Cano). Judy and Bill did an outstanding job and they are to be commended on the warm welcome they gave to everyone who attended. With us going and doing all of this in one day and my daughter leaving for church camp things have been a little crazy around here, but I'm so excited to share with you what I saw. O.K. I won't go on anymore....sit and relax with your favorite beverage and enjoy the tour.

This post consists of a couple of things that I want to share with everyone.

The other day I went to the bookstore with my daughter and I was in the magazine section, of course, where else would I be but looking for another magazine to give me some inspiration. Have you ever had a time when you get tired of the same crafts that you want to try something different? Well, this was one of those times when I spotted the April 09 issue of Marie (Marie Antoinette-Inspired Mixed-Media Art magazine) and I was suddenly taken back to a time of great extravagance. I saw the movie Marie Antoinette starring Kirsten Dunst and loved all the furnishings and fashions that were made for this movie, but at the time I wasn't in the blog world to see that many bloggers were paying tribute to the "Last Queen of France" in this way of mixed-media art. I brought Marie home with me and was so inspired by all the altered art that was featured. So, I thought I would try my hand at some of the examples that were shown and this is my interpretation of some mixed-media art, not solely Marie Antoinette inspired, let's just say French inspired.

A few close-ups of my shoes~ Now for the "tagged" part of this post. Shelley of Sweet Pea tagged me this week. I'm to tell you things about me. I can't remember if it's 7 or 10 things I'm supposed to list (I'm too lazy at this point to go back and check). So, here goes.... 1. I don't start my day without a Diet Coke and this has absolutely nothing to do with me being on a diet o.k. it's all about the CAFFEINE!!!! I can't function without it, seriously! 2. I am deathly (is that a word) afraid of amusement park rides...I don't do that! I'm about to tell you why... 3. When I was a kid we went to Six Flags and my sister convinced me to get on the log ride with her...she lied to me and said it was a boat ride. Well, when we get to the top getting ready to plunge down into the water...I fainted...yea, that's right...fainted! Never Again!!! 4. I have mentioned this one before...I'm Obsessive Compulsive about the smallest things. ie:holes in walls 5. I can't stand for my kitchen counters to be sticky, dirty...I'm constantly wiping them down...remember the OCD! 6. I carry a bottle of GermX with me at all times...germs are everywhere! OCD again! 7. I clean my bathrooms everyday...especially after someone uses it! GERMS!! There's that dern OCD again! 8. I don't use public restrooms, I hold it till I get home...germs, germs, germs! Yea, there's just one problem with that now that the old age is kickin' in, the bladder is gettin' older too! What's a girl to do? One word...PADS!!! 9. Oh! Before going to bed I check all the doors at least 3 times to make sure they're locked. I can't help it...OCD! 10. And finally, I am sooooo going to regret playing this tagged game. The days are getting hotter, you know what that means....summer is almost here! I can't believe that we will be living in this house for a year in July. Which brings me to the reason I'm doing this post. I still don't have anything on the walls. When we moved in we painted the walls Whole Wheat (Sherwin Williams paint) and I am afraid to damage the walls by putting holes all over them when I'm not sure what to put on them. I have this obsessive compulsive thing about putting holes in the walls.

Here are a few photos of what my living room and dining room look like without anything on the walls and a few special ones as well. So, I would really appreciate some advice on what to do.

Oh my! It's already Wednesday...where does the time go! I meant to post this on Monday but....anyway I wanted to let you know of a few exciting things that I am doing.

First, this weekend, Saturday May 9th I will be setting up at the Goliad Market Days in Goliad, TX which is between Victoria and Beeville. It's an hour drive for me and I'm excited to be doing this. I know it's late notice to post about it, but they have Market Days every second Saturday of each month from 9 am - 4 pm, March - December, so make plans to come and check me out sometime. Goliad Market Days, which combines an arts and crafts fair, farmers market, and community festival features more than 170 booths and vendors.

Oh, my sister will be setting up there also under Silver Fox Antiques.

Second, I have officially opened my BlogShop and is ready for you to go shopping. You can also find it on my sidebar. My goal is to add new items weekly, so check it out and let me know what you think!

Through the power of prayer and God's wonderful grace this miracle baby is continuing to make us all believe that there is a higher power. This future "Trashette" is fighting this all the way! By now most of you have heard the wonderful idea that Amy of Trailer Trash and Theresa of Garden Antqs has come up with a way to help a very deserving family in need. A Few Close-Ups~

Things are still not back to normal for me but they're getting better. Doing a show of this magnitude is very exhausting for me anyway and I'm trying to recuperate from it all.

I just wanted to share a few more pics from my booth in Warrenton and also share some things I learned from this experience.

I picked this chicken coup up from a vendor when I landed in Warrenton...needless to say everyone wanted to buy it but it wasn't for sale. Actually, it's just an old crate with some hay, feathers and eggs!

These ceramic eggs sold very well...I was able to keep a few for myself.

My daughters jazz shoes...I was amazed that these sold right away.

I don't know if you can catch a glimpse of the pom pom garlands that I made...which were a huge hit BTW. They were part of my displays and I ended up selling them at the end. This was not my idea entirely...the ones I saw were made out of coffee filters and they tea stained them. I didn't have filters, so all I did was cut some circles out of old patterns and thread them with twine, and I didn't have to tea stain them either.

I made the birds nest for my displays also and they all sold as well...I guess I was a bird in another life.

This bird cage broke on me during the trip to Warrenton so I decided to use it on top of the wardrobe. Maybe I will fix it or not...

These handmade crosses are gorgeous with the sea glass and shells...I still have some for sale.

A suitcase filled with crosses and candles.... A wonderful smelling candle that I picked up from one of the vendors in my field.

I believe it's called Creme Brulee'....it's heaven and it makes the customers stay a little longer to browse and buy. This candle was so powerful that people could smell it as they walked by my booth.

It's been a pleasure sharing with everyone...hope you enjoyed it!

What A Trip~

The words delight, inspiration, and exhilarating cannot begin to describe the experiences I encountered at the Texas Antique Show in Warrenton, Texas. I was taken away by so much talent and friendliness there that I almost didn't want to come home. But, reality kicked in and I knew what was waiting for me at home...like the laundry, dishes, dust bunnies throughout and of course my wonderful husband and beautiful daughter. This great endeavor could not have been made possible without the love and support of my family who stood by me and cheered me on to never give up.

I didn't know what I was doing when I decided to take the plunge and quit my job of 18 years and pursue a crazy dream of going into business for myself. I am so glad that I decided to go to Warrenton and set up shop there for the first time. It is definitely a lot of work but so rewarding that I can't explain the feeling I have now after doing this. If anyone out there is thinking of doing this, all I can say is if you don't do it now you may never do it ever. The people I met along the way and while I was there for two weeks are friends I will treasure ever meeting. I am so grateful to all those that made this "Junkin' Rookie" feel welcomed.

Glittered Nest~

I don't know about you but birds nest are really hard to find in my area of the woods, so I decided to make my own out of the tiny wreaths that you buy at a craft store. All I did was take the wreath apart and separate it till it formed a nice size nest. Then I added some moss and glittered it.

It's so easy!

I glued mine to a branch and you have a birds nest with some glitz and glamour. What bird wouldn't want to lay their eggs in this beauty.

As you can see I went a little crazy with the glittering and decided to glitter some clothespins.

Let's see now, what else can I glitter?

I'm off to do more projects!

If I survive this then I know I can do anything!

I didn't realize how many teacup and saucer sets I have collected.

I have been working with a local artist who has agreed to make these one of a kind seashell and sea glass crosses. They are made of unique shells that were once part of a seashell collection his father had. Each one is different, no two will be alike.

Antique Week Update~

Well, I'm sure everyone who is getting ready for the Spring Show in Warrenton/RoundTop are running around like chickens without heads! I know I am...so I'll be quick about the update on my booth. Just wanted to clue you in on some happenings that I will be offering at my booth ~La Rustique Market~. I invite everyone to come and discover what my booth will feature. I will be set-up in Tree Park Field across the street from Saint John's Church.

I will be setting up on March 21-24..I hope to be ready by Wednesday, March 25th to SELL! SELL! SELL!

On Friday, March 27th I will host "My First Time Madness Sale". Anything over $10 in my booth will be 20% off!

On April 1st, all red line items will be 50% off! No Fooling!!!

On April 3rd, all items left in my booth will be 75% off!

Warrenton Preview~

The Texas Antique Show in Warrenton, TX next month will be my first show ever to do. This is an exciting and scary thing for me at the same time. But in talking to some of the best in the business, I'm more confident that I'm doing the right thing.

After reading comments, not just on my blogs but on other Texas gals blogs, many of you have this idea that Texas has the best antique shows around. Well, we do! That's because Texas does everything over the top especially when it comes to antique shows.

So, after announcing earlier this week that I would be going I had some special requests to show what my booth will feature. My booth will feature a little of the new mixed in with a little of the old.

I will try to feature a few items every week on this blog and my other blog Antiques and More.

More Old Photos~

As promised, here are some more pictures from my hometown of Port Lavaca.

This first photo was taken in July, 1944 when they opened the causeway that connects Port Lavaca to Point Comfort.

The big building in the back was a thriving hotel, it still stands today and they still rent out rooms by the week.

The next photo shows the causeway. It survived many hurricanes but became unsafe to drive on and was later re-built. It also had a draw-bridge to allow the bigger boats passage through.

This next photo is of downtown Port Lavaca. Most of the buildings are still standing today.

There are many businesses still open. One of the original stores is Melcher's General Store. Inside are still the original fixtures, counter, cash register, hardwood flooring...it's amazing. The son of the original owner still owns and operates it today.

There are two restaurants on this same street that serve great food today, The Green Iguana and The Texana Grill.

The community is coming together to rebuild the downtown area as these next photos will show.

The Port Lavaca Theatre was thriving in the 30's and 40's. It re-opened it's doors in 1994 and now is the Port Lavaca Mainstreet Theatre, home to many local productions put on by the Mainstreet Theatre Association.

Look at the mural that was painted shortly after they re-opened their doors. This is part of the re-building of downtown.

An Update~

Thank you to all that visit, I am so very appreciative of all the support that has been given to me since I began this adventure. I apologize for not being more consistent in posting on this site. I am trying to juggle so many changes in life at the moment. Hopefully things will get a little more normal real soon. I promise I really do have great things in store. But for now, I want to leave you with this photo of a postcard from 1906. For those of you not familiar with me and where I'm from, this is the town where I was born and raised and where I still live with my husband and daughter. When I first saw this picture, I was amazed at how they just plopped a water slide in the middle of the bay. C-R-A-Z-Y!!! If you're from Texas, this was like what we know as Schlitterbahn today. Introduction~

I'd like to take this opportunity to introduce you to a dream, a concept, an idea of mine that I have had in the back of my mind for quite sometime. It is in this point in my life that I am finally able to do what I love, and that is to decorate and one day open the doors to an on-line shoppe. This is definitely going to be a slow work in progress for me because of the fact that I am still working a full time job at present time. I am also currently managing Antiques and More Blog. The concept is to transition from AMB to ~La Rustique Market~. Thank you for your patience in advance. Updates will be posted as changes occur. And now...It is with great pleasure that I welcome you at this time to ~La Rustique Market~ an eclectic mixture of Old World Style, Rusty Antiques, and Vintage combined to create a fresh new look.
